The Austin DCCW 2023 convention was held on April 17 -18, 2023. Hundreds of women came together to celebrate 74 years of spirituality, leadership, and service throughout the parochial communities of Central Texas. We heard from women leaders in our diocese in the Fiat session. Fiat is Latin for "let it be done." We were challenged to share our gifts with our Church. Know who your audience is, practice radical hospitality (be zealous in this area) and be of service to our Church. Bishop William A. (Bill) Wack reminded us that the church exists to evangelize. He encouraged us to make each of our parishes a welcoming parish. We need to work on our greeters! Most Reverend Joe S. Vasquez, Bishop of Austin celebrated Mass with Bishop Wack and twenty-two and one deacon for the convention attendees. At the banquet honoring priests’ anniversaries and burse recipients, Bishop Vasquez received a pseudo check for $10,376,385 representing 691,759 volunteer hours at $15 per hour the women of parishes gave in the past year.
The convention continued Tuesday, April 18, with a business meeting and keynote speaker Dina Dwyer Owens who is motivational speaker and was featured on Undercover Boss. She encouraged us to live RICH, R for respect, I for integrity, C for customer focus, H for having fun in the process. Officers were installed and the meeting was closed with a prayer. Below shows just a portion of the attendees to this awesome convention. We hope you consider joining us next year.
